Transitions and Picasa 2 montage

July 19th, 2006 by hitthebongo | Print

Here are a couple of transitions for the slightly more adventurous who are prepared to firstly create a picture montage outside of Movie Maker 2. Please read carefully before deciding to download.

These two transitions reveal a 9 picture montage created in Picasa 2. Picasa 2 is the free photo organising/ editing software supplied free of charge by Google (see Google Photo software button/link down side of page).
By simply selecting 9 pictures within Picasa and using the “Picture Grid” collage maker, a nicely rendered 3×3 picture square JPEG will result.Once created it can be imported in to the Movie Maker2 timeline where my custom transitions may be applied to it.

Note ! This effect is optimised for Movie Maker 2 projects that are to be saved at a video pixel ratio of 4×3. The transition won’t properly align with the montage if saved as an NTSC or PAL video as neither of these are a true 4×3 setting. Under the “Save to my computer” wizard, I would recommend the “High quality video (large)” setting which is found under “other settings“. This setting has a pixel size of 640X480 (ie 4×3) and therefore meets our requirements.

Transitions appear as:

BFX Picasa montage (Grows out)
BFX Picasa montage (Shrinks in)
